WELCOME TO KOREA! (ALMOST...)
Upon arrival, you'll have to make your own way to SNET. But don't fret, it's quite easy.
You will be arriving at Incheon International Airport (ICN). Once you've cleared Immigration and collected your baggage, head out into the Arrivals Hall.
Though not as bad as many airports in Asia, there will be a few aggressive taxi drivers that will try to get you to come with them. Unless you want to pay the $100, politely tell them you're taking the bus. (They might try to tell you that you missed the last bus, but buses run until late in the evening. Call us before you take a taxi drivers word.)
There are a number of money exchange counters in the Arrivals Hall. Their rates are comparable to banks in town. Foreign currencies are not widely accepted in Korea so you should change your money to Korean Won. International bank cards work at some bank machines but not all. Major credit cards are fine. |

There is also a convenience store inside the airport and I suggest you make the following purchases once you've changed money:
- International phone card: They come in 10,000won denominations and are about a third of the price of regular rates.
(Don't get one that is machine readable i.e. a chip or magnetic bar--you need one with an access number and a scratch-off card # on the
back to be able to use it anywhere in Korea)
- Local phone card: lots of public phones in Korea only take cards, not coins. A 3,000won card should do you fine.
- Snack for the bus ride: Incheon Airport is quite far from Seoul and Seongnam, about 1.5 hours by bus, depending on the traffic.
Head outside on the first floor and you will see a series of numbered bus stops. You need the "Ori - Bundang" bus that leaves from bus stop 8A. (First bus: 4:45am, Last bus: 10:20pm; every 30 min). Pay for the bus (12,000 won) at the small booth near the stop. Tell the bus driver you want to go to Seohyeon Station when they pack your baggage on the bus.
Call us right before you get on the bus so we can estimate your time of arrival. Get off at the first stop (about 1hr 30min after departure) "Seohyeon Station/AK(formerly Samsung) Plaza". If someone is not here to meet you, take a taxi to Saemaul-Yeonsoowon(4000~5000 Won). If you need our help please call Ffion (010-8696-4288) or Josh (010-2318-6969). The public phone is a quick dash across the busy 8-lane boulevard the bus drops you off on; a better option is that most Korean people are happy to help by lending their cell phone.
HAPPY TRAVELS! |
